Waukee Dance Team Has Great Success At National Competition

The Waukee Varsity Dance Team recently attended their national competition and came back with great success.

After an extended season due to the pandemic the Warriors were thrilled to finally be able to attend the UDA National Dance Team Championship held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando, Florida.

The girls competed in three tough categories. These categories include Large Game Day, and two new categories for the warriors, Small Varsity Pom and Small Varsity Jazz. Their hard work and dedication through a season full of uncertainty paid off when the team placed 2nd in Large Game Day, 3rd in Small Varsity Pom and 5th in Small Varsity Jazz.

These incredible placements make Waukee Dance Team history in each category. The team made an incredible jump from their last year game day placement at 12th to 2nd place in just their third year in the category. What was school history last year with their placement at 4th for Pom was beat with their bronze medal at 3rd this year. And for Waukee’s first time competing in the Jazz category in 9 years the girls placed an incredible top 5!

The Team will be bringing home three trophies for each of their placements along with each dancer receiving a silver and bronze medal.

Congratulations to all of the Waukee Dance Team members.
