Waukee High School Dance Team Places High in All Categories at State

The Waukee High School dance team wrapped yet another great season with a strong performance at the state competition.

As a team, the girls were able to capture a division one rating and place in the top three of each category they performed in. The team placed first in the contemporary category with an average score of 95.83. They also placed second in hip hop and third in pom.

The Iowa State Dance Team Association also held the state dance solo competition and Waukee had six girls competing. All six girls received a division one rating with a score higher than 75. Junior Jordan Dawson was named the state solo champion in class ten with an average rating of 99.5. This is Dawson’s second time winning the solo championship as she won it in 2019 as a freshman.

The Warriors will compete in the Spirit of the Midwest Regionals virtually on January 13th and UDA National Dance Team Competition that starts on January 29th in Orlando, Florida.
