Waukee Finishes Decade of Success
Waukee Athletic teams have enjoyed unprecedented success during the last ten years. As the calendar turns to 2020, a look back reveals some very impressive numbers. In 2010, after four years as part of the Central Iowa Metro League (CIML), Waukee established itself as a competitive member. At that time, not many could have predicted the level Waukee Athletics would rise to by the end of the decade.
Few schools can match the level of success Waukee teams have enjoyed the past ten years at both the conference and state levels. Waukee athletic teams have combined to win 28 state team championships and have finished state runner up another 14 times. Not included in those numbers are four State Coed Golf titles, seven State Track Team Pentathlon Championships, as well as, 14 Dance and six Competition Cheer State Titles.
Since 2010, 91 new state trophies have been added to the trophy cases and are proudly displayed in the lobby of the Fieldhouse. During that same time period, Waukee teams won 82 conference titles. The combined successes of all Waukee sports resulted in highly coveted athletic program awards. Waukee has won the Des Moines Register All Sports Award four times in the last five years and won the Bank Iowa Challenge Cup the last four years the award was given.
