Swimmers Finish Successful Season With A 5th Place Finish At State

The Waukee Girls Swim Team scored in eight of 11 events and totaled 150 points to place fifth at the State Swim meet last Saturday in Marshalltown. The Warriors were led by individual top six performances from senior Anna Hamling and freshman Jessi Wigham and three strong relay finishes. Wigham placed second in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 500 Freestyle setting new school records in both events. Hamling placed seventh in the 200 Individual Medley and sixth in the 100 Fly. The 400 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle Relay teams both found spots on the podium with fourth and fifth-place finishes, while the 200 Medley Relay team finished seventh. In all 15 Waukee swimmers and divers qualified and competed at State.
